Aşure, the sweet boiled soup/pudding, is the symbol of unity, blessing and prosperity. Some of the ingredients of aşure are hazelnuts, peanuts, dried grapes, dried wheat, chickpeas, beans, sundried apricots, corn, fig, sugar, walnuts, pomegranates. All these tastes and colors are ceremonially cooked together and distributed to neighbors, friends, relatives and the poor in Muharrem month of Hijri calendar. It is also regarded as a commemoration of the food supplies remained onboard once Noah’s ark reached shore after the flood, therefore, it is also called as Noah’s pudding.
Aşure is a tradition of sharing and the celebration of diversity.
