Alay Köşkü (Alay Pavilion) is one of the must-visit attractions in Istanbul. This beautiful historical building is situated on the outer walls of Gulhane Park, which is adjacent to Topkapi Palace in Sultanahmet area and the oldest urban park in Istanbul. Originally built in the 16th century, Alay Pavilion was used by the Ottoman Sultans to take the salute and watch the procession of military forces and the marching ceremonies. In 2011, the Pavilion was rearranged by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar Literature Museum, which is named after Turkish author Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar, and is dedicated to Turkish Literature.
