Galata Tower, one the iconic buildings of old Istanbul, offers a magnificent panoramic view of Istanbul, including the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn, the Blue Mosque and many more.

Galata Tower is known to be built during Byzantium around 500, however took its current form by the Genoese in the late 1300s and served as trade, banking, and insurance center for many years. The Tower was used as a watchtower for fires during the Ottoman Period, as it was the tallest building, 66.9 meters, in Istanbul then.

After several restorations throughout its history, the Tower was turned into a museum hosting some exhibitions of its history. The panoramic view balcony is on the 8th floor of the Tower. Galata Tower was included in UNESCO World Heritage tentative list in Turkey in 2013. The neighborhood is a hustling cultural hub, which will make your time in Istanbul exceptional.
